Sleep anyone?

This was a great weekend for us because it was the first time that Chase slept through the night. And, no, not the 5 straight hours that most books say counts as a full night of sleep. In my book that is most certainly NOT a full nights sleep. I'm talking about what most sane adults would count as "through the night". Yes, my friends, Chase slept for NINE HOURS both Friday and Saturday nights. WOO HOO!! Both Matt and I woke up around 3 am both nights/mornings since that was the pattern of when he had been waking up prior to this weekend and we were both astonished to hear no sound coming from the monitor. I resisted the urge to get out of bed to check on Chase and make sure he was breathing (Matt thinks I'm crazy but I always have SIDS on the brain and therefore am convinced that he could stop breathing at any moment). Sure enough we didn't hear any fussing until 6:30am. We'd put him to bed at 9pm the night before. Pretty unbelievable. I didn't want to get my hopes up but sure enough, he did the same thing Sat. night. I'm saying a prayer right now that this will continue.
I took these pictures of "my boys" Sat. morning. After I fed Chase at 6:30 he was awake for a little while and then it was time for his morning nap. I laid him down with Matt on the couch. I thought this top picture was pretty funny because Chase looked WIDE awake...But then if you look below this was take literally only about 1 minute later...It didn't really take much for them both to fall asleep. Pretty cute. It was enough to melt my heart to see them both cuddled up together. :)

This picture is pretty funny because I sat Chase down on the couch with Matt and here they look like they are equally interested in what was on TV. (I have no doubt that it was either on ESPN, A&E, the History Channel or National Geographic).

Let's go shopping

We were so excited to have our first free weekend since Chase was born that we decided to spend the day shopping. Chase slept for most of the trip in his stroller but wasn't too happy here after waking up from a nap.
We were all in the dressing room with Matt while he tried on jeans. I thought it was already pretty funny that the whole Dickerson family was in there together so it only felt right that we should take picturesto remember the day... I know... We're dorks.

Chase had a dirty diaper while we were in the dressing room so of course it only made sense for us to take advantage of the space and change him. The sales clerk probably would not have been so happy with us had he known what we were doing. Oh well. You do what you have to do when you have a baby, right?

First day at Grandma's

Last Friday was my first day at work and therefore Chase's first day with Matt's mom (otherwise known as Bebe). To get to work at 8am we have to get up at 6am so here's Chase catching some Zzzz's on the way there.
Once we got there I caught a picture of him stretching but I think it looked like he was really saying "WOO HOO!!" with excitement. Either way it's pretty funny.

Here's a sweet little smile Chase gave to Bebe.

...and then him staring at her trying to decide if he was okay staying there all day or not.

Last day to play

Sadly, Thursday was my last day of maternity leave. We decided to meet Laurie, Anna Grace and Kelly in Raleigh for lunch. Here's some pictures of Chase at lunch with the girls.
This is Chase's reaction to the face that Kelly was making at him (as seen below). He was making some pretty funny faces back at her but I thought this expression was especially funny.

Chase decided he'd had enough fun with the girls and was ready to leave. I tried to talk to him to get him to behave like Anna Grace but he was having none of that.

Happy 2 month birthday, Chase!!

Chase's 2 month birthday was yesterday and it was the first day he slept in a crib. He'd been sleeping in a bassinet in our room and after getting up every 2 hours at night for the last week and a half I thought we needed to change something. You can imagine how excited I was to see him sleeping soundly in his crib when I put him down for a nap yesterday. This was a very big deal. I'm also happy to report that he slept in the crib last night as well. He (and I!) slept SO much better as a result. It's amazing how much more rested you can feel after getting 3 hours of CONSECUTIVE sleep versus 30 min.-1 hour at night. I feel like a new person. We are not up to sleeping through the night yet but I'll take it for now.
Here's the happy face of a little boy who is well rested. :)

We were trying to catch Chase smiling and instead caught him in the middle of "talking" (or cooing). Pretty cute. Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby? I don't think so.

Bath time

Here are some fun pictures from Chase's bath time last night.

He's still too young to do too much except pee and kick his legs a little bit but we have fun at least!

Don't worry, Chase, these pictures are all PG... :)

Grandaddy skipping work

Grandaddy was in town from Tennessee and decided to play hooky from work for a little bit to come play with Chase.

At Grandaddy's request, we put Chase in his little Tennessee Volunteers outfit. (Chase and I discussed the fact that it's really just Carolina blue, so he knows where his loyalty is) :)

Happy baby

Check out this funny onesie that Matt and I bought Chase while I was still pregnant. I was pretty excited that he's now big enough to fit into it. I was excited to also catch these happy faces as well. Apparently eating, peeing and spitting up all over his previous outfit as well as pooping makes him pretty happy in the mornings... :)

Hot date with Anna Grace

Chase and I visited Laurie and her cute little one, Anna Grace. It was pretty funny to see Anna Grace checking him out. (He was more interested in the ceiling fan...). She was already starting to put the moves on him. Watch out, boys. :)

Anna Grace lost interest pretty quickly, though.

Chase decided that he wasn't really in the mood anymore. Anna Grace looked at him like she didn't understand what all the fuss was all about. (Don't worry, Anna Grace, we had a little talk on the way home...)

Little Frat Star

Chase has just started outgrowing his newborn clothes so I was really excited to pull out his clothes that are the next size up. This little polo outfit was so cute that I couldn't resist taking some pictures and then also remembered these flip flops that completed the outfit. He looks pretty excited in this picture. :)

He's not so sure about it in this picture... :)
