Saturday Morning with Dad

Matt decided to spend some quality time with Chase on Saturday morning while I slept a little longer (and by a little longer I mean 8:00am).

Apparently, this is what happens when I'm not around.

Happy Anniversary, Matt!

It has been an amazing three years of marriage with lots of good times. Just to name a few of the big events we have experienced in these last few years:

1) We became an aunt and uncle for the first time to Justice and most recently to baby Jake.
2) We survived Matt working at Hatteras. This involved him travelling to 26 different states (sometimes as many as 3 states in 3 days!) and being gone an average of 3 days every week for about a year. I feel like we need t-shirts that say "I survived Hatteras".
3) As a result of #2, Brooks Brothers has since then experienced a drastic sales decrease which is directly related to Matt’s more casual dress code at his current job.
4) Matt started working at CRM software where he is a million times happier than he has ever been at Hatteras or any other banking/sales position.
5) We experienced a golf club “slip” out of Matt’s hand while swinging it in our living room, thus knocking a hole in the ceiling and breaking a glass vase on the dining room table.
6) We learned how to patch up holes in sheetrock after the incident involved with #5.

7. We've travelled to Key West, Mexico, and Chicago. (this is from our honeymoon in Mexico)
This is from Key West.

8. We bought and sold our first house.
9. We bought our 2nd house (which is pictured above).

10. And, finally, the best thing we have experienced so far during our marriage: We got pregnant and then became parents to the most amazing little man ever.

Matt, thank you for three fun and fulfilling years. I could never ask for a better husband, friend and father. Chase and I are so lucky to have you. I love you and can't wait for even more years of adventures to come!

Happy 4 month birthday, Chase!!!

I've been trying hard to not put pictures on this blog that are just cute pictures. Sorry, guys, but I just couldn't resist with these pics. I decided to have a little fun with the fact that Chase is much happier on his tummy than he used to be.

Fun with Uncle Champ

Matt, Chase and I went to Raleigh on Sat. this past weekend to hang out with Champ and Angie. Here "Uncle" Champ is getting some one-on-one time with just him and Chase.
Angie decided to join in the fun.

Chase was tired after all that fun. I guess this is proof that he really was/is ready to get rid of that swaddle blanket...His little arms just wanted to be free.

Tummy time

Other updates: Chase doesn't hate tummy time anymore. In fact he's getting pretty good at holding his little head up and almost seems happy about it. Oh, and P.S. he only got up ONE TIME last night!!! WOO HOO!!! What a great Friday night. Please pray that it continues...

Airplane

This is one of Chase and Matt's new favorite games. Pretty cute. Chase already thinks that Dad is more fun than Mom...

Happy baby

Matt always complains about how the evenings are always when Chase is the fussiest and that's the only time he gets to spend time with him during the week. After a short nap yesterday, however, Chase was a happy little camper. Here's some happy pictures that make my heart melt. :)

Let's Eat

When we went to the doctor last week because Chase was getting up every two hours the doctor gave us a couple of suggestions. Since he is almost 4 months old she said we could go ahead and offer him cereal and last Sunday we decided to give it a try. We apologize for the video being sideways........just tilt your head a little to the left and it should look more normal.

Free at last

We have had a really rough week this past week because each night Chase was getting up every 2 hours every single night. Matt and I were averaging about 3 hours (broken up of course) of sleep each night. We tried cereal in his milk. We tried putting his pacifier back in his mouth and not feeding him. We tried changing him and then putting him back down. We tried taking turns and Matt getting up sometimes and me getting up sometimes. He still got up every 2 hours like clock work no matter what we tried or what we did. After 3 nights in a row we were barely making it through work each day so we decided to take up Bebe and Pops on their offer to keep Chase for a night so we could get a little sleep. I felt like I might be overreacting a litle but finally called the doctor on Thurs. (our bad nights started last Sunday). They told me to bring him in to make sure there was nothing physically wrong. Luckily he got a good check-up (updated weight: 12 lbs. 12 oz.) and the doctor said that he was most likely going through a growth spurt.
One thing we had noticed each night was that he was wiggling so much that he was working his arms out of his swaddle blanket and that was waking him up. So we finally decided that it was time to wean him out of the swaddle. He's just gotten too strong for it at this point. It wasn't easy at first for him to fall asleep so we just let him keep one arm out. Friday night was the first time we tried it and he slept for 5 hours straight, only getting up once that night. Last night he went cold turkey without being swaddled and again slept for 5 hours!! This morning when I put him down for his nap he fussed a tiny bit for about 10 min. and then feel asleep. Here's a picture I took to remember this very momentus day. Ahhh...

New discoveries

A couple of weeks ago Chase discovered those 2 things attached to the end of his legs. Whenever we lay him down he immediately stares at his feet and then is mesmorized by them. Who knew feet could be so much fun??
We're saving money on toys right now since it seems that Chase has more fun with his feet than anything else.

Chillin on the couch

Chase is becoming more aware of his surroundings and particularly enjoys watching the colors and movement on the tv. (I think experts say this probably isn't the most intellectually stimulating thing for babies but whatever). When Aunt Lauren came to visit last weekend she propt him up on the couch and we thought he looked pretty funny. He's staring at the tv in this picture and looks like he's pretty comfortable.
All he needed was the remote. Like father like son.

The first roll-over video

This is actually the first video I took of Chase rolling over. I personally think this one's better because you can see the momentum he had to get going in order to push himself over. Pretty funny.

Rolling over

This was a big weekend since it was the first time Chase rolled over. He has hated tummy time for quite a while so I was pretty excited yesterday morning to see that he didn't mind it so much. He arched his little back, kicked his leg up and flipped over! Here we managed to capture it on video.

Almost laughing

Chase hasn't quite started laughing yet but he came pretty close about a week ago. I was trying to capture Matt playing with him on video but became distracted by the cute sound of those squeals coming from Chase. It's so amazing to hear him making new sounds. It's also pretty funny to see what Matt is willing to do to make his son smile/laugh. :)

What size?

In buying baby clothes I've discovered that it's not as easy as it seems in choosing your baby's size. For instance, Chase is 3 months old. So you would think it would be as simple as buying 3 month-size outfits, right? Well, for the most part, yes, that is the size we buy. But then you've got 0-3 months...And then 3-6 month-sized clothes. So since we just need the 3-month part, do we buy 0-3 or 3-6?? And then some stores go from just 3-month-size to 6-month-size. Hmm...So what if you're 4 months?? or 5 months?? I'm kind of kidding. I mean we sort of know what size Chase is but it still makes me wonder...We found this cute little sleeper outfit on sale at Gap last weekend and the size is 3-6 months. I thought that maybe Chase could wear it soon. Unfortunately it looks like we're a few months away from Chase fitting into it. (Notice all the material at the bottom...). Oh well...you'll grow into it, Chase. And hopefully Mom and Dad will figure out how to buy appropriately-sized clothes for you. We'll figure it all out together.
If you can't tell, his feet end about 3 or 4 inches above where the footie is... Chase looks pretty exausted from all this size confusion as well.
